why do 7th graders think they are the stuff?

I just started 7th grade and I have realized that the people in my grade think they are the best people on this planet! like yesterday I saw a huge group of 7th graders wear kitty backpacks like thomas the choo-choo train and toy story. then they had the nerve to call that swag?? and today I saw a bunch of them with stickers all over the place. i just don’t get it, why are they a;; of a sudden acting like this

because at that age its about being "Cool" it starts at that grade so when in HS you will be popular if you keep up with being "Cool"

7th Graders are becoming teenagers. As a group, they are the most stupid yet egotistical people on earth. When they reach adulthood, Hollywood performers and Politicians become the most stupid groups Though Lawyers are high on the list too.
