MUST HAVES for toddlers?

As in toys etc., not just the most basic necessities.

My guys are turning 18 months old in a couple of weeks, and I am doing a half birthday party, and giving them a few gifts. So far I have a couple of Ikea potties to get started on intro to potty training, a Melissa and Doug latch board (they likely are a bit young for it, but love opening and closing doors so might get a kick out of it anyway), a tot sized table and chairs set from Ikea, a large roll of drawing paper and washable markers.

We already have a train table, Thomas trains, track, blocks, and tons of infant toys. Interested in toddler toys and other toddler things your kids REALLY like. Also toys etc. specific developmentally for toddlers, that I wouldn’t have gotten them as infants and may not think about.

Any good ideas I don’t get for their half birthday I will use for Christmas ideas. So far I just have tickle me Elmo and YMCA elmo. We don’t have a private yard and our house is carpeted, so slides and the plasmacar won’t really work for us.

Purchasing original Thomas train?

Posted on 19. Jun, 2011 by Toy Expert.

I am in Toronto, Canada.

I want to buy Thomas trains for my baby boy. I went to Toys R Us and there I found Thomas trains by Imaginarium and Fisher Price companies. Are these real Thomas trains ? Or is there a different Thomas train company which is not carried by Toys R Us ?

I remember reading an article couple of years back in a news paper about a toy train maker company. I think that was Thomas train, but I dont remember the name exactly. |This company was 100 million company and the train sets made by this company would cost 3-4 hundred dollars. I am trying to find the trains made by this company.

Is there a way I can find original Thomas trains or the ones made by Fisher Price are the original ones ? If not, what company shall I be looking for ? What stores carry these original trains ? Whats the website for this original company ? I tried to google it, but could not find correct one.

Thanks.

Is Melissa and Doug Railway set compatible with Take Along Thomas and Friends trains?

Melissa and Doug 130 pc railway set says it is compatible with "Thomas," but there are 3-4 different sizes of Thomas trains series. I bought Lionel Railroad set, but the rails were too wide for Take Along Thomas and Friends trains that we had. I searched for the width of Melissa and Doug railroad but couldn’t find it anywhere. If anyone has Melissa and Doug Railway set, how wide is the rail from one grid to the other? Is it narrow enough to fit the die-cast Thomas trains?

I am having trouble finding a cool train set for my 2 year old that doesn’t have those ridiculous faces on it. My son doesn’t care for the Thomas stuff either, but the only other train sets I am finding are for much older kids. Besides that, Thomas trains are so expensive. Any ideas?

can someone tell me about toy train sets?

a relative got my <2 year old a train table for christmas and another is getting him a train set…a normal wooden one. what’s the difference between all the brands? do they all have a standard size (like could you use thomas trains on a circo (the target brand) wooden track) or are they all different and only some fit with certain ones? my mom said there are two different sizes of tracks, so …um… what are they and how do you tell? or is that not the case at all? haha. I’m completely clueless and have to go shopping for the train set for that relative because they can’t get out of the house easily…so any help would be greatly appreciated.

BQ: what train set do you have for your child?
BQ2: if you celebrate the holidays, do you have a "big ticket" item for your child? what is this years?
