Which Thomas the Tank Engine figures (with magnets) are the standard size for the tracks?
Posted on 24. Jul, 2010 by Toy Expert.
My son has just begun a Thomas the Tank Engine collection including small figures with magnets. It seems we have 2 different sizes of trains. One train was purchased alone (at Target) and is plastic. The other trains are wooden and came with DVDs we purchased. These trains also seem to be a bit bigger as each of the wooden trains have wheels that are spaced out farther than the plastic train mentioned earlier. We would like to expand his collection and purchase tracks for the trains, but we do not know which of the trains are "standard." Do we continue the plastic, smaller trains or the wooden, larger trains? Does anyone know exactly? There isn’t a major difference in the size, but there is one. Thanks in advance!

On the Lionel Polar Express G Gauge train set ;need to know where the battery compartment is located .?

I bought this set at Target over a year ago; there are 6 or 8 phillips screws under the engine, but I don’t see any directions as to how to fit the C batteries in. Seems strange to have to open up all those screws each time you want to change batteries. Would appreciate someone’s help.

Thomas & Friends….best prices?
Posted on 14. Jul, 2010 by Toy Expert.
Ok, so I severely underestimated my 3 1/2 year olds obsession with Thomas and all of his friends. I thought oh ok, he likes trains. No, he loves trains. He loves Thomas, Percy, Gordon, James, etc., etc., etc. Originally I bought him a small set of tracks, the plastic gray ones that go with the Take Along diecast engine, and Thomas, and Percy. That was enough until I picked up a DVD one day. Now he asks, "Mommy, where’s (insert engine name here)?" He also uses his toy cars on the tracks and names them after the other engines, so I have to get him more.
I told my mom about this last night, now she wants to buy more for him also. My question is:
She’s in FL, we’re in VA, so she wants to order online. What site has a good price on them, and the accessories? Would walmart.com, or target.com, sell them cheaper than one of the specific toy train sites?

Train sets that can quickly and easily be taken apart and put back together?
Posted on 14. Jul, 2010 by Toy Expert.
Hello. My nephew is about to turn 4, and loves trains. However, space is limited, which rules out a stationary toy that takes up a lot of space. Can anyone recommend a good train set which can quickly and easily be taken apart and put back together, preferably for under ? Thank you.
Bluidangel76, thanks. I’m glad your answer is knowledgeable and thorough, because it’s not looking like I’m going to be getting many more. The Brio toys seem to be out of stock, but the Target set seems nice as well.

Does anyone know where I can find a Thomas the Tank Engine winter coat?
Posted on 27. Jun, 2010 by Toy Expert.
I’ve searched stores like Target, Toys R Us, Wal-Mart and Kohl’s, with no luck. I have checked ebay too.
I need a warm winter coat with Thomas the train in size 4T. Anyone see one online?
Thanks!
