LEGO® Train Sets from the 9V Era
Posted on 04. Sep, 2011 by Toy Expert.
This video features a handful of my LEGO trains from the 9V system era (1990 – 2005). Among these are the famous Metroliner 4558, the Santa Fe Super Chief 10020 with passenger coaches including James Mathis’ “Dome Car” and the freight trains 4512, 4563 and 4564. Hope you enjoy watching these…. Music by Island artist “Hildur Gudnadottir”: CD “Without Sinking”.

Whistle Controlled Vintage LEGO Train Engine 118 from 1968
Posted on 04. Aug, 2011 by Toy Expert.
This video features the rare 118 train set from 1968. It is remote controlled by whistle tune. The price has been at horrible 89.90 DM (=22.50 $US) in 1968. This has been the same as 0.63 onces of gold. 0.63 onces of gold are 0.63×1412 $ = 887 $ today. I would not sell my set for this sum though….

LEGO Set 119 (4.5V “Prairie Train” from 1968) using PF-System
Posted on 02. Aug, 2011 by Toy Expert.
This one is cute and rare. And the Power Function system is not really the right option to drive this set. Because this set 119 (4.5V “Prairie Train” from 1968) incorporates already a break switch (to stop automatically at lowered 4.5V signal) AND a polarity switch to change direction at a reverse pin set anywhere next to the track. Probably the best train set from the 60ies! To use the Power Functions on the old sytem, the connector cable has been modified: cut in halves and the two center cords equipped with plugs. Since PF delivers 9V full throttle should not be used on the 4.5V motor (even if they appear to be nearly indestructible).
