Classic 12V LEGO® train 7740 running on Power Functions

This video shows a simple approach to run 12V LEGO trains on any systems track by implementing Power Functions components. The train consists from train set 7740 (1980), sleeping car 7815 (1983) and mail van 7819 (1983). The Power Function cable had to be modified to power the 12V motor. The two center wires are conected to 12V plugs (as seen in the end of the video).

A nostalgic look at the wonderful Lego 12v Trains of the 1980′s. This 20ft x 8ft layout features every 12v train set Lego produced for the “grey track” era between 1980 and 1990, including set numbers 7710, 7715, 7722, 7725, 7727, 7730, 7735, 7740, 7745, 7750, 7755, 7760, 7810, 7813, 7814, 7815, 7816, 7817, 7818, 7819, 7820, 7821, 7822, 7823, 7824, 7835, 7838, 7839, and 7866. The layout features 229 feet (70 metres) of track, along with numerous remote-controlled electric points (switches), colour-light signals, and the rare remote decouplers.
