Has your child outgrown something & it made you sad?

Posted on 02. Sep, 2010 by Toy Expert in Deluxe train set

My oldest was into Cars big time for over 3 years and now he is moving on to Toy Story :( I like Toy story, but I like Cars better, lol. And my youngest is more into Thomas the Train instead of passing down the Cars stuff.

Goodbye McQueen…..

P.S. The thing they’ve outgrown could be something "serious" or "childish", it doesn’t matter.

My five – year – old is the exact same way! He was obsessed with Cars from just before his second birthday, but that has really faded. We used to watch Cars at least twice a week, but I don’t think we’ve watched it for months. In fact, I don’t think my son has played with his Cars toys in quite awhile. He has also moved on to Toy Story.
Yes, the fact that he has outgrown Cars makes me sad. What really made me sad, though, was when he outgrew the toddler clothing section when he was about three. He was a tall boy, so 5t was too small for him. Somehow, moving over to the "big boys" clothing section made it feel like I was losing my baby.
Oh, and I miss the way he mispronounced "minute" when he was a toddler. He used to say "nimmit" instead, and it was so adorable. "Hold on Mommy, just a nimmit!" When he stopped doing it about a little over a year ago, I was secretly a bit sad.

They outgrew cuddling. It makes me VERY sad! I secretly enjoy when they are sick or when they wake up in the night, because those are the only times I can get cuddles anymore.

I miss how they used to want me to hold them and cuddle with them. Now they are too busy playing to have much time for mommy.

I have some keep-sake clothing that I went through the other day and I swear my heart just ached when I saw his newborn golf caddy outfit (it was SO freaking cute). He was so tiny and immobile back then~ makes me long for those days!

He love*d* Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and he had a Mickey cake for his 2 year old party last month, and now he screams when I try to play that show. So in 5 weeks it went from #1 to ‘cannot stand to watch’. I just want him to get out of the "Tigger & Pooh" stage because that show drives me bonkers!

I get sad when my boys outgrow their really cute clothes. They recently outgrew their brown and camo shirt which had a camouflaged stroller on it with a shotgun and deer antlers hanging from the handle. It said "This is how I roll" and it was so cute! I’m from Alabama, and my husband and alot of my family love to hunt. I loved that shirt.

My daughter loves ‘Upsy Daisy’. She’s not really old enough to outgrow it yet, but my nieces are ‘Dora’ fans so she’s taken a liking to that. We just bought her a bunch of ‘Upsy Daisy’ things for Xmas, and her 1st bday which was at the end of Jan, but if you put Upsy Daisy AND Dora infront of her, she goes strait to Dora :-(

My son get obsessed with films or cartoons and every time the obsession ends its kind of sad because I grow to love them too (how can you not love them, you see them 500 times a day lol)

The longest he loved so far is Looney Tunes, all the characters Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Sylvester etc.. I bought him DVDs, videos, soft toys, puzzles…

I love to feed his "likes" by buying these things and I also learned to keep these things as maybe a year from now he will enjoy them again :)

The newest favourite is Cars :) there must be something about that movie :)

I’m just so glad that the Doodlebops are over. I couldn’t take much more of that.
